A LETTER FROM THE VANCOUVER
GIANTS
May 8,
2007
“Congratulations to the Vancouver Thunderbirds for
another very successful season of Vancouver Giants fundraising!
Your great track record in past seasons earned the association
three fundraising nights this year – 2 in the regular season and 1
in the playoffs. All three nights were shown strong support from
the entire association and confirmed the Thunderbirds’ place as one
of our top performing associations. Plus the upcoming Memorial Cup
fundraising opportunity should cap off a very lucrative year of
Giants fundraising for the T-Birds.
I would like to once again extend our thanks to
James Joyce, George Georgeopolous, and all of the many volunteers
who put forth tremendous time and effort to make the program a
success. Without the dedicated work of James and his crew, the
players and parents of the Vancouver Thunderbirds would I’m sure
face many more days of bottle-drives, chocolate sales and raffle
draws. Instead, with the support of the executive, the T-Birds have
taken great advantage of the opportunity we provide and have again
set the association up to be a major beneficiary of the program
during the 2007/08 Giants season.
Our sincere thanks as well to everyone who took
part in the program – whether it was selling game tickets,
volunteering at the games, or buying tickets in support of the
night. We appreciate your support and encourage you to participate
again next season. We also encourage everyone in the association,
most importantly the members of the executive, to continue to raise
the bar each and every year, and do everything in their power to
make the program bigger and better with every season.
We look forward to seeing you next fall at the
Pacific Coliseum!
Vancouver Giants”
A LETTER OF THANKS TO OUR
VOLUNTEERS FROM THE VANCOUVER GIANTS:

Subject: Giants and T-birds
To this point I
must say that we at the Giants are very pleased with Vancouver
T-birds’ performance in our minor hockey program. Even though our
partnership began only a few years ago, the T-birds have quickly
become one of our most reliable and successful organizations. Every
aspect of the program has been fulfilled each time you are called
upon, and your hard work has paid off in the form of being granted
hosting rights for premier games (ex: Teddy Bear Toss) and playoff
games.
While ticket sales
is a large factor of success in the Giants eyes, we also take into
account the level of volunteer support you’re able to garner, the
enthusiasm of the children involved, as well as the ease at which
we’re able to work together to make your host nights successful for
all involved (ex: attendance at our annual meeting, how easy you
are to get a hold of, providing the Giants with volunteer and
player names in a timely manner, how early you start ticket sales
before your night, etc). On all points, the T-birds receive very
high marks.
Given my
experience with the program from day one, I believe success is
achieved for 2 reasons – excellent leadership/support from the top
down, and strong, dedicated “leg-work” to make it all come
together. With those two items in check, everything else tends to
fall into place. Again, the T-birds have hit both points admirably
with the hard work of Gaye Collins and James Joyce.
First off, from
the very first time I met Gaye Collins I knew that Vancouver
T-birds would be a great association to work with. Her enthusiasm
for the program and willingness to make the T-birds a top-notch
performer were evident from the get-go. As hard as this is to
believe, very few people truly understand how lucrative a program
like this can be and fail to take full advantage of the
opportunity. Gaye though definitely understands. I believe that
true, association-wide success in this program cannot be achieved
without sincere and strong support from the President and executive
board. By making this program a priority within the association,
Gaye has sewn the seeds of success.
Within that in
mind, and given the President can’t be everywhere at once, it takes
strong support from others to make the program take flight. And
that is where you come in James – you and your crew do a fantastic
job making things come to life. You’ve been a season ticket holder
of ours from day one and therefore understand what the Giants are
really about – high-quality, affordable entertainment, with a
top-down commitment to giving back to our minor hockey community.
You are also one of the lucky few who “get it” – you
understand how much this program can mean to the association and
how much it can benefit the kids. Because of that, you’re able to
throw a tremendous effort at each night you host and make it a
success, all the while being a pleasure to work with.
So again, the big
pats-on-the-back go to Gaye and James, but I know there are also a
number of people working with you to make this a success and they
deserve credit as well. Bottom line though, is without quality
people like you two leading the way, Vancouver T-birds would not
have had the success it has achieved thus far. All I can hope is
that we will continue to see that kind of effort and dedication in
the future.
When it comes to
the T-birds, I’m confident that we will.
Thanks again to
you both.
